PLAYCE AND START-UP NAMÉ RECYCLING JOIN FORCES TO RAISE AWARENESS OF PLASTIC WASTE RECYCLING AMONG YAOUNDÉ RESIDENTS
Food packaging, cosmetics, hygiene, health equipment, IT products... A versatile and inexpensive material, plastic is absolutely ubiquitous in our daily lives.
Yet it is a real pollutant for theenvironment: the accumulation or combustion of plastic waste degrades water and air quality, as well as the health of natural ecosystems. As plastic waste is virtually impossible to break down naturally, recycling and/or limiting its use seem to be the only effective options for limiting its proliferation. However, according to figures from the NGO GreenPeace, only 9% of the global volume of plastic waste is currently recycled. Major efforts must therefore be made to preserve our ecosystem.
To demonstrate its commitment to combating the proliferation of plastic in the city of Yaoundé as soon as it opens, PlaYce Yaoundé has partnered with Cameroonian start-up Namé Recycling to install "Namé Bins", collection bins for all types of plastic waste. You can find them scattered all over the mall' s parking lot.
The aim of this initiative is to encourage users to adopt a responsible attitude towards the treatment of plastic waste. To this end, from Monday September 05 and throughout the week, Namé Recycling teams will be delighted to talk to the public. Don't hesitate to ask them any questions you may have, or to ask for advice and tips on everyday waste management!
